NSPCC EduCare child protection awareness programmes

Our range of interactive, distance learning programmes are designed to teach everybody about their role in protecting children

NSPCC EduCare® child protection awareness programmes enable those who have contact with children through their work or leisure activities to gain the confidence to act upon concerns about children and play a role in preventing abuse.

EduCare will enable you to:

gain an awareness of child protection issues
recognise signs that a child needs help
feel confident taking a first vital step to get assistance
make an important contribution to preventing children suffering from child abuse
gain an NSPCC certificate for the completion of a formal programme on child protection awareness.

Child protection awareness

Four modules. Ideal for small organisations or individuals thinking about child protection for the first time, the programme gives pointers to good practice, including staff recruitment and training.

Children's rights

Four modules. For anyone who comes into contact with children and young people in their work, leisure or voluntary activities. Developed in collaboration with the Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE).

Child protection: staying aware

Refresher course designed for candidates who have completed Level 1 or 2 child protection training in the last three years.

Preventing bullying behaviour

Four modules. Written by the NSPCC, this four-module anti-bullying programme will help you understand and prevent bullying behaviour and create a culture of safety for the children and young people in your care.

Safer recruitment and selection

Five modules. A new five-module NSPCC EduCare distance learning programme for anyone involved in the recruitment of staff and volunteers who work or come into contact with children and young people.

Someone to turn to: safeguarding children and young people

21 modules. Our new distance learning programme supports the City and Guilds level 3 qualification in safeguarding children and young people.

Child protection awareness in education

Four modules. A short distance-learning programme for anyone who has contact with children in an educational setting, the programme is suitable for teaching and non-teaching staff.

Child protection awareness in health

Four modules. Designed for anyone working in a health setting who has contact with children and families.

Keeping children safe

Three modules. Ideal for youth, leisure or sporting organisations with existing child protection policies and procedures, this programme explains how staff and volunteers can use existing guidelines to respond to concerns about a child's welfare and safeguard themselves at the same time.

Keeping children safe in sport

Three modules. Intended for anyone who works with children in a sports club or sports setting that has child protection policies in place. By offering this programme, sports organisations can ensure that staff and volunteers have the knowledge and skills to identify and respond appropriately to concerns about children's safety.

Creating a culture of safety

Three modules. Intended for anyone wishing to know more about child sexual abuse. It contains facts about child sexual abuse and the people who pose a threat to children, as well as how you can create a safe culture within your organisation.

Programme delivery

The programmes are available both in hard copy and online. For each module, simply read the text and answer the accompanying multiple-choice questionnaire, designed to test your understanding. EduCare feed back participants' results with explanations for the answers and a certificate for those reaching the required standard.
